The 52 nd SKOCH AWARD FOR GOVERNANCE 2018 was held in New Delhi from 21st to 23rd June 2018 at constitution club of India ,Rafi marg ,New Delhi.

Jalpaiguri District MGNREGS work has been awarded SKOCH order of Merit Award for LIVELIHOOD THROUGH INNOVATION category . The district also achieved Silver Award for Excellence in state of Governance in the same category.

The Jalpaiguri District received this award for the first time. District Nodal Officer Sri Vir Vikram Rai received the award on behalf of Jalpaiguri District Administration.

Jalpaiguri, in the state of West Bengal nested between the hills of Bhutan, the marshy grasslands of Assam and the plains of Bangladesh, largely comprises of tea gardens and forest villages.

With the support of MGNREGA, District Administration has succeeded to reopen 12 TGs which were closed for last 6-8 years and this innovation has been appreciated by Central Government by awarding our District, the prestigious award “National Award for Excellence in MGNREGA Administration” for outstanding performances in the year 2009-10 and for innovative application for livelihood security in reopened TGs through MGNREGA. Permissible works under MGNREGS are being extended to these TGs in order to provide employment to the Labourers having Job Cards during lean period and creation of assets in the Gardens for community developments. That has been awarded to us by the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in presence of UPA Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 2nd February 2011.

We are thankful to the people of Jalpaiguri and MGNREGA Authority for that. We have got the award that does not mean our job has been completed but this award will motivate us to do better in future and bring more and more poor people under the umbrella of MGNREGA and we are committed to the people of Jalpaiguri to do that. And it is our challenge to do well in future too. This website is another step towards the betterment of activities under MGNREGA.
